The alleged perpetrator of the murder, perpetrated in mid-July, of a Frenchman in Ivory Coasthas been “neutralized”, otherwise killed, Monday by the police, according to a press release from the public prosecutor of Abidjan, published on Wednesday August 10 by the Ivorian press.
“The investigations, as well as the hearings of witnesses, made it possible to question” Monday “one of the defendants”the statement said, adding that “on the latter’s indication”the police went to the Adjamé district of Abidjan to “make the arrest” of one “second villain”. At the sight of the police, he shot them and “the response made it possible to neutralize it”according to the press release.
The alleged accomplice must be brought before the Abidjan Criminal Court on Wednesday “to respond to acts of theft committed at night in a meeting, with the carrying of weapons and violence resulting in death”according to the prosecutor who specifies that he “faces life imprisonment”.
” Voluntary homicide “
On the night of July 17 to 18, this 31-year-old Frenchman, an employee of the Bouygues group, had “was coldly shot by two individuals armed with automatic pistols (…) after dinner in a restaurant” and while he was returning home with a friend in the Marcory district of Abidjan, recalls the prosecutor.
They had been followed by the two men on a motorbike who robbed them “miscellaneous objects”but, before fleeing, one of them had opened fire, killing the young Frenchman, he said.
A survey for ” voluntary homicide “ was opened in Paris after this murder, entrusted to the Central Office for the Suppression of Violence against Persons (OCRVP), had indicated the Paris prosecutor’s office requested by AFP on August 3.
