It is noted that at the end of 2022, the indicator amounted to 2.18 trillion rubles. Thus, in 2030, growth could be almost 40%.
According to Anatoly Grek, partner at Strategy Partners, one of the main drivers for the growth of road freight transportation was the change in supply chains and the limited capacity of railways. Mikhail Burmistrov, General Director of INFOLine-Analytics, explained that due to the congestion of the railways, consumer goods are increasingly being transported by road. According to him, the trend will only increase.
Also, the growth of the trucking market is affected by increased control over the market, including through the introduction of an electronic waybill, an increase in the cost of transportation and the need to update the fleet of trucks, the growth of the e-commerce market and inflation, experts add.
Sergey Kazachkov, head of the practice for working with transport enterprises at Kept, added that the further growth of the market will also be determined by the digitalization of cargo transportation processes. According to the director of development “Yandex.Deliveries” by Alexei Fedotov, under this condition, by 2030 the freight transportation market could grow to 5 trillion rubles.
Last year, despite the anti-Russian sanctions, the market volume increased by 6% in monetary terms. In physical terms, according to Rosstat, the growth was 0.3%, to 5.51 billion tons. In mid-March, Sergey Semenov, director of the state policy department in the field of automobile and urban passenger transport informedthat last year road transport accounted for about 70% of the total volume of cargo.
