By data Central Bank, for the first and second quarters of 2022, the net outflow of retail investor funds from brokerage accounts amounted to RUB 999 billion. In the third and fourth quarters, an inflow was recorded – but only 242 billion rubles returned to the accounts.
At the same time, the inflow of funds to mutual funds (UIFs) and to accounts in trust management (DU) continued in 2022. Previously, the picture was different – the inflows of funds from individuals to brokerage accounts were significantly higher than the inflows to mutual funds and remote control. At the end of 2021, the amount of assets of private investors in brokerage accounts was almost twice the total amount of assets attracted through other investment instruments.
