A prototype of the Russian import-substituting aircraft SJ-100 made its first flight, the Ministry of Industry and Trade said. As stated, during the tests, the stable operation of all domestic systems, controllability and stability in the air were confirmed. About 40 systems and units were replaced on the prototype.
The flight was made in Komsomolsk-on-Amur. It lasted 54 minutes at an altitude of up to 3,000 meters and a speed of up to 343 km/h. The crew included test pilots Leonid Chikunov, Dmitry Demenev and test engineer Denis Velizhanin. The crew performed a test of the stability and controllability characteristics of the aircraft in the air, a test of the automatic pressure control system in the cockpit, performed a “cloud landing” and a go-around approach.
According to Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the aircraft is equipped with Russian avionics, chassis, auxiliary power unit, integrated control system, power supply, air conditioning, fire protection and others. “The first flight of the Superjet, created under the program of import substitution of systems and components, is the success of many thousands of teams of enterprises in the aircraft manufacturing and radio-electronic industries that are part of the control loop of the state corporation Rostec,” the Deputy Prime Minister said in a comment. A prototype of the SJ-100 short-haul aircraft was manufactured by the production center of PJSC Yakovlev (part of the UAC Rostec). In June it was reported that the first flight would take place with Russian-French SaM146 engines. This was due to the “acceleration of the test program.” It is expected that the second prototype will start testing with domestic PD-8 engines.
