Cigarette manufacturer Imperial Brands (Davidoff, Gauloises, JPS, Fine, West and others), which in March announced the suspension of work in the Russian Federation, transferred exclusive rights to several brands, including the international West, to its Russian structure – International Tobacco Group LLC “. Under the alienation agreement, the Russian company also received the rights to several dozen trademarks associated with the Maxim and Parker & Simpson (P&S) brands, writes RBC with reference to the Bulletin of Rospatent.
According to Rospatent, Imperial Brands’ subsidiaries in Germany, Great Britain and the Netherlands alienated the rights to visual images of cigarettes, abstract images, liveries for racing cars and slogans.
At the same time, as the publication notes with reference to the research company Ipsos, only Maxim and P&S are recognizable by consumers, and in the rating, consisting of 22 positions, they occupy 19th and 22nd places, respectively.
The British concern ceased to own assets in Russia in April. Control over Imperial Tobacco Sales and Marketing LLC (now International Tobacco Group LLC) was transferred to shareholders associated with Megapolis, Russia’s largest distributor of cigarettes.
