The pulp and paper company Ilim announced the start of paper production under the Russian brand of the same name. In 2024, Ilim plans to produce 95 thousand tons of office paper, the company’s press service told Kommersant.

In Russia, as reported by Ilim, the company accounts for 77% of all pulp produced, 16% of packaging materials and 25% of white papers. The new brand plans to take a 15% share. The company’s plant in the Irkutsk region produces more than 400 thousand tons of printing and office paper per year.

Paper production, as the company clarified, no longer depends on import supplies. “Previously, chemical reagents were bought in Scandinavia, now the Ilim Group branch in Koryazhma has mastered the technology for their production. At the same time, the quality of bleaching and paper was preserved,” said senior vice president of the company Alexey Chernyaev.

The company clarified that about half of the products are exported to China. By 2025, Ilim plans to increase supplies by 40%. The company also announced its intention to develop exports to the Middle East, India, Africa and Latin America.

The Russian brand Ilima will produce paper at a plant in Koryazhma in the Irkutsk region, where they have been processing cellulose since 1973. In 2013, the production site completed the construction of the most powerful paper-making machine in Russia – the project cost was 9 billion rubles.
