The energy ministers of the EU countries have not agreed on a decision to introduce cap prices for gas from Russia, said Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

Mr. Szijjarto noted that the meeting was only a political discussion. “Today there was no decision, there was only a political dispute, which served as a guideline for the European Commission. At present, we expect that next week or the week following it, not only the member states, but also the European Commission will come up with written, already real proposals,” the minister told Hungarian journalists. An extraordinary meeting of energy ministers of the European Union (EU) countries took place in Prague.

Before the ministerial meeting Peter Szijjártó spokethat the proposed EU price limit for Russian gas is contrary to the interests of Europe and Hungary. According to the minister, the price ceiling will cause an immediate cessation of Russian gas supplies to Europe.

Earlier today, September 9, Reuters, citing two EU diplomats reportedthat the proposal to limit the price of Russian gas did not receive wide support from the ministers.
