In recent years, state support for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) has increased significantly. There are several programs under which SMEs receive various preferences, benefits, subsidies and grants. And what kind of assistance from the state can the self-employed count on? Sergei Sukhostavets, Operations Director of the Rocket Work technology platform, answered this question to Moskovskaya Pravda.

The self-employed, just like small businesses, can receive support from the state, the expert said. Several types of financial assistance are available to them, including grants, subsidies and social contracts. At the same time, there are both federal programs that can be used by the self-employed throughout the country, and regional ones, financed from local budgets and provided to the self-employed who work within a particular region.

— For example, the country has grants for young entrepreneurs. In the status of self-employed, citizens under 25 years of age can apply for a grant that is issued to open or develop their own business. You can receive a grant in the amount of 100 to 500 thousand rubles after completing free training in center “My business” and in the absence of debts on taxes and contributions, – said Sergey Sukhostavets. – To apply for a grant, you need to apply for an IP, and then switch to the NAP tax regime. Any self-employed person, like an individual entrepreneur, can count on a grant of 250 thousand rubles to start their own business, after defending a business plan at an employment center. And the self-employed – owners of personal subsidiary plots (PSP) can receive support under the agricultural development program. With its help, a grant can be obtained for the purchase of farm animals, seeds and feed; arrangement of mini-farms.

In addition, like other small businesses, the self-employed can count on free access to ready-made legal and business solutions, consultations and training programs, the expert notes.

– So, the employment center can send a self-employed person for free training or retraining. There are also programs for preferential leases of municipal premises, such as offices and co-working spaces, and preferential loans for the development of their business for payers of the professional income tax (PIT). Two types of preferential loans are available to the self-employed: without collateral – up to 1 million rubles for up to three years, and with collateral – from 1 to 5 million rubles for up to five years, – Sergey Sukhostavets explained.

So those who are just about to start their own business and are thinking about its legal form may well choose self-employment. It really has many advantages: the lowest tax rate, the absence of mandatory contributions to the Pension Fund and social insurance, the ability to conduct business without accounting and a cash register. At the same time, support measures for the self-employed are provided almost the same as for individual entrepreneurs.

“Self-employment also has disadvantages,” Sukhostavets recalls. – This is a profit threshold of 2.4 million rubles a year, after which it will no longer be possible to apply the preferential regime, as well as the inability to have hired personnel and restrictions on certain types of activities, such as the sale of excisable goods.

Therefore, if you decide to start working for yourself, carefully study all the nuances and choose the tax regime that suits you.
