“Hope exceeds expectations” – Kommersant FM

Kommersant FM columnist Dmitry Butkevich talks about the successes of the gallery and exhibition projects of Rostan Tavasiev, which are presented in the new space.

A year ago, a new gallery opened on Bobrov Lane on Sretenka. A small, intimate Sistema, named in Latin letters, appealing to the founder and having in its leadership a recent graduate of the Paris Sorbonne, Anastasia Volkova.

Then, in a conversation with me, Anastasia was full of hopes, having returned to Moscow from the Parisian art world, to develop the exhibition and educational process in her homeland. Now it is clear that her hopes are not only justified, but even exceed expectations, as Anastasia Volkova herself says:

“In addition to the fact that we are opening a new building, we are celebrating almost a year of our gallery. During this time, we managed to achieve even more than we planned, because after all, we held 12 exhibitions, but quickly enough we decided to scale the project and began work on annexing the neighboring space, which is also not the end, but just another chapter on the path of creation our big project.”

A new, rather extensive space, which was recently added to the old building, opened with exhibition projects by Rostan Tavasiev “Asteroids and Comets” and “Planetary Nebulae”. Rostand, known for creating his own style, which he calls “hippotopia” (painting with soft hippo toys), appears in these projects in a different form – a “cosmic artist” who paints with planets and nebulae.

The project is grandiose and worthy of a separate story. And Sistema Gallery, having significantly expanded its exhibition space, also presented plans for adding a third courtyard building, which will house art residency workshops for young artists. And this is not the end of artistic expansion.
