Soviet and Russian painter from Dagestan, Honored Artist of Russia Albert Khadzhaev died at the age of 86. This was reported in “In contact with” Ministry of Culture of Dagestan.

“Albert Zakharovich Khadzhaev, a famous Soviet and Russian artist-painter, teacher, member of the Union of Artists of the USSR, Honored Artist of Russia, died at the age of 87,” the Ministry of Culture reported. According to “RIA Dagestan”the artist suffered from a serious illness.

Albert Khadzhaev worked in the style of realism, academicism, and book graphics. He often painted still lifes. One of the important themes of the artist’s work is war. His painting “Here We Stand to Death” depicts a group of women laying flowers on the grave of a soldier. His other famous works are “Evening Still Life”, “In Memory of Shchaz from Kurkli”, “Balharka”. A message from the Ministry of Culture of Dagestan says that Albert Khadzhaev was valued for “the plasticity of his works, imbued with a special musicality.”

The artist was born on December 24, 1937 in the city of Buinaksk. Studied painting at the Tbilisi Academy of Arts. Albert Khadzhaev taught at the Art School named after. M.A. Dzhemala in Makhachkala. In 2012 he received a certificate of honor from the Republic of Dagestan, in 2018 he was awarded the Order of Merit for the Republic of Dagestan.
