Boris Matveev was born on October 19, 1949 in Leningrad. In 1975, he graduated from Zinovy Korogodsky’s course at the Leningrad State Institute of Theater, Music and Cinematography, receiving a specialty in theater and film actor. He worked in the Chelyabinsk Youth Theater, in the Riga Youth Theater (Latvia), in Lenkom (St. Petersburg), the Puppet Theater in Neryungri (Yakutia), the Astrakhan Puppet Theater, and the Stray Dog Theater.
In 1999, he was nominated for the title “Honored Artist of Russia” for his role as Angel D in the play “The Divine Comedy” and received the title in the same year.
Since 2003 he has worked at the St. Petersburg Bolshoi Puppet Theater. BTK especially noted the roles of Boris Matveev in the plays of Ruslan Kudashov: dad in the play “The Nutcracker or Christmas Dreams and Visions of Marie Stahlbaum”, great-grandfather Yolochka in the play “The Great Journey of Little Yolochka”, the stationmaster in “Repentance and Forgiveness” and two roles in the play “Kholstomer” based on the story of the same name by Leo Tolstoy – the role of a stable boy and the role of a celestial being in the prologue of the play.
Boris Matveev starred in the TV series “Cop Wars”, “Streets of Broken Lanterns”, “Secrets of the Investigation”, “Deadly Force”.
