Honorary President of the Union of Architects of Russia and the first President of the International Association of Unions of Architects of the CIS Countries Yuri Gnedovsky died on March 4, reports “RIA News” with reference to the press service of the union. Mr. Gnedovsky was 93 years old.

Yuri Gnedovsky was born on June 3, 1930 in Yekaterinburg. In 1954 he graduated from the Moscow Architectural Institute. In 1993, he was elected president of the Union of Architects of Russia, and later became honorary president. In 2000, Mr. Gnedovsky was awarded the Russian Presidential Prize in the field of literature and art, and three years later he won the national award in the field of architecture “Crystal Daedalus”. He was also awarded the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, IV degree, and the Order of Honor.
