The Hong Kong authorities consider the decision to dump water from the Fukushima reservoirs irresponsible and create “incredible risks to food safety and irreparable pollution and destruction of the marine environment.”
The accident at the Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant occurred in 2011. The water used to cool the reactors was stored in tanks after purification. They are almost 90% full. In this regard, the authorities decided to dump the treated water.
