Cars of the Japanese company Honda will be delivered to Russian dealerships through parallel imports from China, said Mikhail Plotnikov, General Director of Motor Place, writes TASS.
“It can be said that the supply of cars was resumed by a local distributor who imports these cars through parallel imports from China. We do not supply cars directly from the company, but are now working through our partners in China,” said the head of the company.
On the intention to stop deliveries of Honda to Russia stated back in December 2020. Then the Russian subsidiary of the automaker announced this and clarified that cars would stop arriving during 2022. In early March last year, Honda announced its decision to stop exporting its products to Russia against the backdrop of a special operation and sanctions.
Mazda, as noted by the newspaper, produces cars in a joint venture with a Russian company Sollers in Vladivostok, where about 29,000 vehicles were produced in 2021. Last May reportedthat Mazda Sollers is negotiating the resumption of supplies of components to factories in Russia. November 10, 2022 Sollers informedthat will buy out Mazda’s stake in the joint venture (JV) and plans to restart the plant on a new model line in 2023.
