He’s back: actor Alexei Serebryakov linked all his latest projects with Russia

All the talk that Alexey Serebryakov lives in two countries – Russia and Canada – is not true. He never had a Canadian passport. From the beginning of the 90s, his wife Maria worked there as a dancer, whom Alexei met much later. After the return of the family from Canada, the professional interests of the artist are connected precisely in Russia. Here he has many film proposals and theater projects.

Living in Canada, Alexei actively worked in Russian cinema, starred in Canadian and other international films, for example, in the spy thriller The Coldest Game by Polish director Lukasz Kosmicki, where he played a KGB general. The hero of Serebryakov was somewhat reminiscent of Alexander Lukashenko, but turned out to be a person close to him from law enforcement agencies

Before the pandemic, Aleksey received the Nika film award for the best male role in the film Van Goghs by Sergei Livnev, where the father of his hero was played by the outstanding Polish actor Daniel Olbrychsky.

In recent years, Serebryakov plays mainly fathers with a difficult fate, and here – a rare case – he starred in the role of a son. His hero Mark is a talented but little-known author of installations. After learning about his father’s illness, he comes from Israel to Riga, where he was born, and this is the last chance to mend broken relationships. In the same year, the short film “Interview” by Ivan Sosnin was released, which was later included as a short story in the feature film “Ivan’s Happiness”. Alexei played there a children’s writer and a father who left his family, and to whom, over the years, under the guise of a journalist, an adult daughter came. Alexey often has to work in difficult conditions and in various parts of the world. Recently he had a chance to shoot in Altai and Kamchatka with Dmitry Dyachenko. As a professional of the highest standard, the actor is ready for any difficulties. You have to sit in the quarry all day, as it was on the set of Alexander Hunt, he will sit there all day in the heat in the dust. Dyachenko filmed in forty-degree frost. The camera froze, they worked for 12 hours. But, according to the director, Alexei gets used to the character in such a way, tries on the fate of the hero in such a way that he feels the core of the character. Here he is cheerful and cheerful next to you on the set, but shooting begins, and instantly becomes gloomy, taciturn, immersing himself in the image as much as possible.

According to the plot, events take place in the taiga. An epidemic among wild animals begins, and a father and a drug-addicted son come to a hunting lodge for rehabilitation purposes. The director offered the role of the father to many famous actors over 45, and saw Serebryakova in the role of a huntsman. But after the trial, it became clear that he was ideal for the role of a father. According to the plot, terrorists kidnap a young Moscow veterinarian from a Greek hotel and transport him to Syria. His parents, who have not communicated for a long time, go in search of their son. Their roles were played by Anna Ardova and, of course, Alexei Serebryakov. His Pavel never saw his son, but goes with his former lover in search of him in a foreign country.

And at the end of last year, the premiere of the film “Liberea: Treasure Hunters” by Gleb Orlov took place, where Alexei played a professor, a historian. This is a story about how, during the construction of the metropolitan metro, workers find a precious salary, indicating that the library of Ivan the Terrible exists. In the serial thriller “Your Honor” by Konstantin Statsky, based on the Israeli series of the same name, Alexei starred as a dangerous criminal, whose son was the victim of the offspring of the judge who sentenced him to prison.

The actor’s filmography includes about 170 roles. He began acting at the age of 13, making his debut in the series “Eternal Call”. Then they saw in him a resemblance to the actor Vadim Spiridonov and invited him to the role of his son. Colleagues looked arrogantly at the authors of the film Uskov and Krasnopolsky. The series was considered a second-rate affair in relation to big cinema. And now “Eternal Call” is a classic. Someday, all sorts of absurdities with cancellations will become just a fact of history.
