Henkel has an option to buy Russian assets for 10 years – Kommersant

The German manufacturer of cosmetics and household chemicals Henkel AG has a buyback option for enterprises in Russia within 10 years. This was announced by the CEO of Henkel AG Carsten Knobel in an interview with the Rheinische Post newspaper, his leads Bloomberg.
Knobel explained that the option was part of an agreement to sell Henkel’s Russian business to a consortium of investors. He added that the company may buy assets in Russia in the event of a significant improvement in relations with the country. According to him, “a cessation of war or a ceasefire” will not be enough for this.
Henkel in Russia produced products under the brands Schwarzkopf, Syoss, Fa, Persil, and many others. The company had 11 plants in the country. After the start of the military operation in Ukraine, the company decided to sell the Russian business. In April 2023 Henkel agreed on the sale of assets to a consortium, which included Augment Investments, Kismet Capital Group and Elbrus Services. By May the deal was closed. Its amount amounted to 54 billion rubles.
The new company will be called LAB Industries. Its CEO Sergei Bykovskikh said that top management will pay special attention to the preservation of jobs, the quality of production processes with increasing volumes.
