Dutch brewing company Heineken reportedthat sold her Russian business for a symbolic €1. The assets were received by the Arnest group. Heineken received a non-cash loss on the sale of €300 million.
As noted in the Heineken report, Arnest received all 7 breweries. The buyer also provided employment guarantees for the next three years to all 1,800 Heineken employees in Russia.
Dolph van den Brink, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Heineken, stressed that this is the end of the company’s withdrawal from Russia. “Although this transaction took much longer than we hoped, it provided a livelihood for our employees and allowed us to responsibly leave the country,” Dolph van den Brink said.
As noted by the company, in addition to the Heineken brand in Russia, the production of beer under the Amstel brand will be stopped in six months. There are about 30 beer brands in the Heineken portfolio. Among them, Zlaty Bazant, Guinness, Krusovice, Affligem, Gosser, as well as “Hunting”, “Three Bears”, “Stepan Razin”, “Okskoe”.
Arnest is the largest manufacturer of perfumery, cosmetics and household products in aerosol packaging in Russia and the CIS. This company last year acquired Ball Corporation (USA) has three plants for the production of aluminum cans in the Chelyabinsk region.
