HBO cuts ‘House of the Dragon’ season 2 to eight episodes

The second season of the series “House of the Dragon” will consist of eight episodes instead of ten, as it was in the first, reports dead line. Portal writes that executive producer and showrunner Ryan Condal is working with author George Martin on “how to break up the narrative from season to season, which battles to include in the story, and when.” It is stated that a portion of the story originally intended for the second season, including the “major battle”, was decided to be moved to the third season. Portal sources clarify that while the HBO management decides how many seasons – three or four – “would be optimal to tell the whole story.”

An HBO spokesperson confirmed to Deadline that the second season will be eight episodes long, and clarified that this is “story driven.” He did not provide any details. The portal clarifies that the premiere of the second season may take place in the summer of 2024.
