Government backs amusement ride control bill

The government supported the introduction of a federal law to control the activities and condition of attractions of all kinds. The bill was proposed by the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg. Regions can get the right to register rides and ban their activities. A unified register of attractions will appear.
The government gave a positive opinion on the bill “News”. The press service told the newspaper that a separate federal law is needed “in order to ensure a unified state policy in the field of ensuring compliance with mandatory requirements for attractions.” The authorities noted that now the safety requirements are established by the technical regulations of the EAEU “On the safety of attractions.” The government believes that the new law will “help reduce accidents and improve the safety of such facilities.”
In 2022, 17 ride accidents were officially registered, Alexey Gavrishev, a lawyer and managing partner at AVG Legal, told Izvestia. For example, in Orenburg falling carousel 20 people were injured, a 17-year-old girl died in Orel. According to the lawyer, rescuers are not called for many accidents, so they cannot be taken into account in the statistics.
