Google will require advertisers to disclose the use of AI in political advertising
[ad_1]
Company Google said that from mid-November, advertisers using Google platforms will be required to “clearly and easily” report if artificial intelligence (AI) tools are used in political advertising or campaigning. Notice of this must be shown in the locations or regions where the political advertisement will be shown. These Google requirements apply to image, text, and video content.
As the company explains, the use of AI refers to “synthetic content”, when a person in an advertisement says or does something that they did not do or did not say at the time of shooting. The same applies to photos and videos of events. Observers believethat in this way Google wants to fight fakes / deepfakes, which, with the development of AI, have become quite often used in the generation of photo and video content.
However, Google clarifies that the disclosure requirements will not apply to means such as editing (for example, fixing “red eyes” in a photo) or making changes to the background of an image that “does not create a realistic picture that differs from the true image.”
