The American corporation Google has decided to cut hundreds of jobs in its international recruiting division. reports CNBC. The cuts will take place over several quarters.

“Unfortunately, we are forced to significantly reduce the size of the recruiting organization,” Google vice president of recruiting Brian Ong told employees during a video call.

He also called the decision “difficult” and noted that corporate management would not want to have such a conversation with subordinates this year. Employees affected by the layoffs will begin receiving notifications via email starting September 13th.

In January, Google owner Alphabet announced it would cut 12,000 jobs, or about 6% of its workforce, across its entire organization, including Google and its subsidiaries.
