Google receives third fine for failing to remove banned content

The Tagansky District Court of Moscow fined Google 4.6 billion rubles. for repeated failure to delete information (Part 5 of Article 13.41 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation), including fakes about the Russian army and LGBT content, Interfax reported with reference to the press service of the court. This is a negotiable fine, the third for Google since the end of 2021. The last two times the court fined the company a total amount of more than 29 billion rubles.

As reported in court, Roskomnadzor demanded that Google remove information about the military operation on the territory of Ukraine, videos with LGBT content from YouTube, as well as materials of an extremist nature.

On December 9, the Tagansky District Court fined Google LLC 4 million rubles. on a similar charge. On November 23, the company was fined the same amount.

In April of this year, the Federal Bailiff Service in the Russian Federation withdrew all funds from the accounts of Google’s Russian subsidiary, Google LLC. The amount was transferred to the service’s escrow account in connection with the legal proceedings.
