Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said that Russia is undergoing global diversification of the gas industry. He named the orientation of gas supplies to the East as the main vector for the development of the energy industry.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, Russia proceeds from the fact that oil and gas consumption in the Asia-Pacific region will increase. According to the prime minister, gas, as a cheap energy resource, “will increase its share in the energy balance in the future.”
“Our development vector is mainly supplies to the East, the development of liquefied natural gas, which can be supplied anywhere in the world by transport. We, too, are currently undergoing global diversification of the gas industry,” said Alexander Novak in an interview with Rossiya 24 (quoted by Interfax).
After the introduction of sanctions, Russia redirected the supply of energy raw materials to the East. As a result, the share of Russian crude oil imports in India for the first six months of 2023 increased tenfold, up to 20%, compared to 2021–2022 data. Russian gas exports to China in May updated historical maximum: 3.09 billion cubic meters. m.
Authorities predict growth in liquefied natural gas (LNG) production in Russia by the end of 2024 by 43.3%. Last year, the production of this raw material in Russia has grown by 8.1%, to a record 32.5 million tons.
