Funds allocated by the state for the construction of modular hotels contribute to the development of the glamping format. The glamping format with non-capital construction projects has been gaining popularity in Russia in recent years, receiving, among other things, government support. Zhanna Kira is confident that as the market becomes saturated, the growth rate of the glamping segment in Russia will decrease, but so far she does not see the prerequisites for this. According to the expert, in many regions, for example Baikal, Kamchatka, Sakhalin, Karelia and Tatarstan, there is still a shortage of supply. The development of the segment will be facilitated by growing interest in domestic tourism and increasing incomes of the population, notes Ms. Kira. In the UK, she points out, glamping is on the rise, despite a more saturated market.

Although the vice-president of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia, Sergei Romashkin, believes that the peak of development of the format and fashion for glamping has already been passed. “Travelers may prefer such accommodation, but only in certain locations. For example, in the Murmansk region it will be more interesting for them to live in a glamping camp outside the city and watch the northern lights than to stay in a city hotel,” he says. But, Mr. Romashkin notes, there are not many such places and glampings are most often not considered to accommodate the most widespread type of vacationers – families with children.
