The Government of Ghana has approved the Pecan field development project on the Deepwater Tano Cape Three Points block (DWT/CTP) with the participation of LUKOIL (MOEX: LKOH). Ghana’s Deputy Energy Minister Herbert Krapa told reporters at the ADIPEC oil and gas exhibition.

He did not answer the question whether an investment decision on the project had been made. “I cannot comment on the latest news about the final decision. But I am sure that we will be able to close this issue quickly in order to begin development,” said Mr. Krapa (quoted from TASS).

LUKOIL Vice President for America, Africa and the Middle East Ivan Romanovsky said in March that if the government of Ghana approves the field development project, the Russian side will make an investment decision in October-November.

The area of the DWT/CTP block located in the Gulf of Guinea is more than 2 thousand square meters. km. Five oil and two gas fields were discovered there.

According to Kommersant, Russian oil companies became the main suppliers of oil to Ghana in September, sending two tanker shipments of 1 million barrels each. In recent years, Russia has delivered almost no oil there, but resumed exports in the spring.
