The German energy company RWE, following Uniper, demanded that Gazprom compensate for losses due to the lack of gas supplies. About it informs newspaper Handelsblatt, citing a company representative.
It is noted that the company has already initiated proceedings in the arbitration court. Thus, RWE became the second concern that turned to Gazprom with a demand to compensate for the damage.
German energy company Uniper reported about suing theGazprom” November 30th. Proceedings against the Russian company were initiated due to a shortage of gas since June, Uniper noted. The company demanded that Gazprom compensate for the losses incurred. We are talking about the amount of 11.6 billion euros, which, as expected in the German Uniper, will continue to grow until the end of 2024.
At the same time, the press service of Gazprom accuses Uniper of violating the terms of the contract rejected. Also, the Russian company confirmed the start of the trial.
Both companies that filed lawsuits against Gazprom had contracts with a Russian company for gas supplies. However, since SeptemberGazprom» cut off the supply of energy to Europe. This decision was made on August 31 due to the repair of the only remaining gas compressor unit at the Portovaya compressor station. Later, sabotage occurred at Nord Stream, and therefore the operation of gas pipelines is not carried out. Pumping gas through one of the lines of Nord Stream 2, which survived the explosions, is impossible due to the lack of a corresponding decision by the German authorities.
Earlier, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the possibility of new lawsuits against Gazprom, notedthat the company will defend its interests by all available means.
