Germany has a chance to survive the coming winter “without taking drastic measures,” said Vice Chancellor and Economics Minister Robert Habeck. He believes that it is necessary to prepare for a further reduction in gas supplies from Russia.
“We still have a very critical winter ahead of us. We should expect Putin to cut the gas supply even further,” Mr. Habek told the German broadcaster ARD (quoted by Reuters).
Gazprom has reduced pumping to Germany to 33 million cubic meters. m per day, which is about 20% of its design capacity. The Russian company explained this by problems with turbines for Nord Stream, one of which stuck in Germany. From September 31 to September 2, Gazprom will completely shut down the gas pipeline for repairs.
