German Bayer will continue to supply major agricultural products to Russia

The German company Bayer said it had decided to continue supplying key agricultural commodities to Russia, Reuters reported, citing a company statement. The agency recalls that Bayer has previously stated that deliveries for 2023 will depend on the development of the situation in Ukraine.
The decision to continue deliveries is aimed at “helping avert what could become an unprecedented food crisis,” and access to Russian food is essential in this regard, the company said.
Bayer threatened in March to halt supplies of essential commodities such as seeds and pesticides if Moscow continued its “unprovoked attacks” on Ukraine. The sharp change in the company’s course occurred against the backdrop of the signing of the so-called grain agreement in Istanbul on July 22, Reuters notes.
