George Martin reveals how many pages of ‘The Winds of Winter’ he has left to finish

Famous American science fiction writer, screenwriter, editor and winner of several literary awards George Martin visited the evening show of comedian Stephen Colbert. The conversation very quickly turned to the book-sequel to the famous saga “A Song of Ice and Fire” – the novel “Winds of Winter”.
Martin said that about 1100-1200 pages of the work were already ready for publication, and until the end he had to write about a third of this volume.
“I have already written about 1100-1200 pages,” a celebrated contemporary writer told Colbert. “I need to scribble another 400-500 pages somewhere.”
During the show, Martin also entered into dialogue with fellow writer James Patterson, who published 22 books in a year. He suggested to the famous science fiction writer that The Winds of Winter be divided into three parts and each of them released separately annually. In this case, Martin will have time to complete the finale of the saga by the time the third book is sent to print.
Earlier, the famous science fiction writer said that The Winds of Winter is about 75% ready. He is currently finalizing and rewriting some fragments from the first chapters. As the writer noted, this work will be the longest of the entire series.
