GC “Key Systems and Components” purchased the assets of Knorr-Bremse in Russia

The group of companies “Key Systems and Components” (GC KSK) bought out the Russian business of the international holding company for the production of brake systems for freight and rail transport Knorr-Bremse. This follows from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities.
The deal included the Knorr-Bremse Holding Systems for CIS Rail Transport and Knorr-Bremse 1520 plants, located in Moscow and the Leningrad region, respectively, reported “Kommersant” in the press service of the KSK Group. The company clarified that it will transform the Knorr-Bremse division in the Leningrad region into a key production asset of the Braking Equipment division.
The newly acquired Russian assets of Knorr-Bremse will help Key Systems and Components strengthen its enterprises in terms of competencies in the development, production, repair and maintenance of braking equipment for urban rail transport, according to the Group of Companies. First of all, we are talking about the metro, as well as mainline railway rolling stock.
The KSK Group of Companies includes more than 30 enterprises producing equipment in the field of transport engineering. Factories have been operating in eight regions of the country since 2017.
Knorr-Bremse opened subsidiaries in Russia, Knorr-Bremse Holding Systems for CIS Rail Transport and Knorr-Bremse 1520, in 2014 together with the Russian Federal Freight Company (FGK). Knorr-Bremse owned 60% of the enterprises’ assets, FGK – 40%. Later, FGK’s share became the property of the Knorr-Bremse Holding System for Rail Transport of the CIS.
