Gazprom will consider the possibility of supplying over-contract natural gas volumes to Hungary in 2023 and applying a deferred payment for these supplies,” the report says.
Earlier today, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó after talks with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak declaredthat Budapest extended the agreement with Moscow on additional gas supplies, which was concluded in 2022. In addition, the agreement with Gazprom remains in force, according to which, in the event of a sharp increase in fuel prices, Hungary will be able to receive a deferral of payments.
Szijjarto also toldthat the Hungarian company MOL will directly pay Kiev for the transit of Russian oil through Druzhba. Hungary, he explained, receives 80% of all oil supplies through this pipeline, so the country is interested in the continuity of transit.
At the end of March, Novak and Szijjarto had a telephone conversation, during which the Russian side confirmed that it continues to fulfill all contractual obligations with Hungary for gas supplies, including the supply of additional volumes of energy.
At the end of August 2022 Hungary signed a contract with Gazprom, according to which, from September 1, the country receives 5.8 million cubic meters. m of gas per day. Prior to this, deliveries to the country were at the level of 2.6 million cubic meters. m of gas per day. Additional volumes of gas are supplied to Hungary via Turkish Stream and Serbia.
