Gazprom to build new UGS facilities in central Russia

Gazprom intends to expand its underground gas storage facilities (UGS), said Sergei Khan, head of the company’s underground gas storage department. He specified that Gazprom would also build new UGS facilities in the central part of Russia.
In an interview with the Gas Industry magazine, Mr. Khan said that the expansion of the Kaluga UGS facility is planned, as well as the construction of a new storage facility in rock salt deposits – Novomoskovsky (Tula Region). “According to these facilities, design and survey work is being carried out and it is predicted that construction sites will be launched from 2026 and 2024, respectively,” he specified (quoted by Interfax).
He added that in addition, a feasibility study is being developed for potential facilities, including for the construction of the Serpukhovskoye and Seregovskoye UGS facilities. He did not give a timeline for the completion of these projects.
