Gazprom-Media Holding terminated business relations with Google

Gazprom Media Holding, against the background of blocking TNT and NTV channels on YouTube, announced that it was impossible to build long-term business relations with Google, which owns the platform.
“In March last year, Google illegally blocked Gazprom-Media Holding’s TNT and NTV channels on YouTube, and we initiated lawsuits on these facts. It is impossible to build long-term and understandable business relations with a platform that terminates them unilaterally,” the press service of the Russian company said in a statement (quoted from “RIA News”).
The company also stated that they are interested in bringing content to their Rutube platform. The press service noted that Russian video hosting has tripled its audience in just a year and has a well-functioning monetization system.
Earlier today, on February 7, the Baza Telegram channel, citing sources, reported that Gazprom-Media CEO Alexander Zharov had signed a decree banning the publication of the holding’s content on YouTube from February 1. The channels “Match TV” and “Friday” belonging to the holding last published videos on YouTube on January 31 and 30, respectively. At the same time, the corresponding channels continue to publish content on Rutube every day.
On March 12, YouTube blocked the channels of MIA Rossiya Segodnya, the state agency TASS, VGTRK, Channel One, RBC, REN TV, Moscow 24, as well as TNT and NTV owned by Gazprom Media Holding. November 17 Moscow Arbitration Court obliged Google unblock NTV channel. On October 6, the Moscow Arbitration Court made a similar decision on the holding’s claim against the TNT channel.
