The volume of Russian gas supplies to China via pipelines may soon reach the previous volume of Gazprom exports to Western European countries. This was announced on October 18 by the Chairman of the Board of Gazprom, Alexey Miller. According to him, we are talking specifically about “the volumes of supply that we have [«Газпрома»] were for export to Western Europe,” rather than the current, significantly lower exports. Journalist Pavel Zarubin published a video with Miller’s statement on his Telegram channel. The top manager did not name the exact timing and volumes.
Gazprom has not yet published export data in 2023. In 2022, the company, which has a monopoly on gas exports via gas pipelines, reduced supplies to non-CIS countries (Europe, Turkey and China) by 1.8 times compared to 2021 levels to 100.9 billion cubic meters. m. Gazprom did not specify detailed statistics on supply regions.
