Gazprom again reduced the flow of gas through Ukraine

“Gazprom” has reduced the pumping of gas to the GIS “Sudzha” through Ukraine to 24.4 million cubic meters per day. Accordingly, the volume of downloads fell below the level of early January by 40%. This was announced by the official representative of the company Sergey Kupriyanov. The day before, on January 19, the volume of gas supply along this route had already been reduced by 23%.
“Gazprom is supplying Russian gas for transit through the territory of Ukraine in the amount confirmed by the Ukrainian side through the GIS Sudzha — 24.4 million cubic meters as of January 20,” Mr. Kupriyanov told reporters (quoted from “RIA News”).
The application for the second border GIS “Sokhrovka” was rejected – deliveries through it have not been carried out since May 2022.
To date, Russian gas supplies to Europe are carried out only via the Ukrainian route and the Turkish Stream. Since mid-2022, Gazprom has been supplying 41-42 million cubic meters per day through Ukraine. Exports have dropped sharply since 4 January. The decline in supplies may be due to a sharp decline in gas prices in Europe in January.
