The Central Bank clarified that funds in Qiwi Bank electronic wallets (MOEX: QIWI) were not insured under the deposit insurance system. Today, February 21, Qiwi Bank’s banking license was revoked, after which operations through electronic Qiwi wallets became not available.

After the license is revoked under the deposit insurance system, each depositor must be returned an amount of up to 1.4 million rubles. The Deposit Insurance Agency plans to begin paying depositors no later than March 6. The total volume of insurance payments is 4.6 billion rubles. The liquidation period of Qiwi Bank will last at least a year.
