FT: Poland refused to supply oil to a German refinery

The PCK oil refinery in the German city of Schwedt is threatened with closure if supplies of Russian oil through the Druzhba pipeline are stopped, reports Financial Times (FT). According to the publication, the refinery expected to replace supplies with oil from Poland, but was refused.
The reason for the refusal was that 54% of the plant’s shares belong to Rosneft. “The Poles say they don’t want to supply us (oil.— “b”) while Rosneft still owns the plant,” an unnamed PCK employee told the FT. He added that the German plant also hopes to replace Russian oil with supplies from Kazakhstan.
Gas storage facilities in Germany filled by 80%. On August 22, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz arrived in Canada on a three-day visit to negotiate the supply of liquefied natural gas to replace Russian pipeline gas. Berlin and Ottawa signed an agreement to export Canadian hydrogen fuel from 2025.
