Irish musician, lead singer and songwriter of The Pogues Shane MacGowan has died at the age of 65, The Guardian newspaper reported.
The musician, according to a statement from his family, passed away on the night of November 30 after a long illness.
The Pogues are an English-Irish folk-punk band. The team was formed in 1982 in London by McGowan and became famous in the second half of the 1980s.
In December 2015, the lead singer announced that the group had ceased to exist. The last concerts took place in Ireland and the UK in 2013.
Since last year, McGowan has been under constant treatment: doctors diagnosed him with viral encephalitis.
