Four more Kyrgyz banks suspended service of Mir cards

Kyrgyz banks Halyk-bank, Demir-bank, “Kyrgyzstan” and the Bank of Asia have temporarily suspended operations with Russian Mir cards. This was reported by TASS with reference to the customer relations services of banks, as well as messages from the official websites of financial institutions.
“Dear customers, we inform you that since October 18, 2022, the service of Mir cards in ATMs and POS-terminals of the bank has been suspended,” reads a message published on the website Bank of Asia. On the bank’s website “Kyrgyzstan” It is noted that the financial institution decided to suspend the service of only some Russian banks, a list of which is published in the message.
In total, there are 23 local commercial banks in Kyrgyzstan, some of which have not previously served Mir cards. At the moment, the following banks continue to accept Russian Mir cards: RSK-bank, Kapital-bank, Keremet-bank, Optima-bank, Tolubay-bank, Bai-Tushum, Kyrgyzkommertsbank and Kyrgyz Investment and Credit Bank.
Earlier maintenance of Mir cards suspended Kyrgyz banks Bakai-Bank, Doskredobank and Kompanion Bank. The National Bank of the Republic stated that banks independently decide whether to cooperate with a particular payment system.
September 15 at the US Treasury threatened sanctions for supporting the expansion of the work of the National Payment Card System (NSPK) and the Mir payment system outside of Russia. Because of this, from card service refused banks of Sri Lanka and the largest banks Turkey, and in Ankara suggested develop an alternative to the Mir system.
