Founder of FTX Crypto Exchange Detained in Bahamas at US Request

Law enforcement agencies of the Bahamas have detained the former CEO and founder of the bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange FTX, Sam Bankman-Fried. The United States has issued an arrest request.
U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York Damien Williams said on Twitter that the arrest was “based on a classified indictment.” The authorities promise to declassify it later.
According to information The New York Times, Mr. Bankman-Fried is accused of electronic fraud, securities fraud, money laundering and criminal conspiracy. The founder of the crypto exchange is the only defendant in the case.
FTX Group, operator of the Bahamas-listed cryptocurrency exchange FTX, filed for bankruptcy on November 11. Back in early autumn, the business was valued at $32 billion.
