The manager of the sanatorium of the same name, LLC DC “Pearl of Kamchatka” in July came under the control of LLC “Sanatoriums of Kamchatka”, where 65% is owned by Ream Management of Mikhail Sivoldaev, and 35% by the Corporation for the Development of the Kamchatka Territory (KRKK), found “Kommersant” in Kartoteka.Ru. Ream explained to Kommersant that an agreement was signed with the corporation on the development of the Pearl of Kamchatka, and the joint company would renovate the facility while maintaining the function of a sanatorium. The “Pearl of Kamchatka” is located in the village of Paratunka, Kamchatka Territory, and has existed since 1981. Initially, the object was on the balance sheet of the regional ministry of property, and in 2021 it was transferred to the KRKK. The territory of the health resort is 55 hectares, there are two wells with thermal water and three pools, two hotel buildings and cottages. At the same time, 120 people can rest and be treated in the sanatorium.

The reconstruction of the “Pearl of Kamchatka” has been discussed since 2016. Then it was planned to create a treatment center and a spa complex of three buildings with an area of ​​​​6 thousand square meters. m. According to the materials of the KRKK, investments in the renovation of the “Pearl of Kamchatka” will exceed 700 million rubles. Budget financing of the project is not provided, clarified in “Ream”. Other parameters of the project were not given in the fund.

Vasily Malinin, a partner at Rustam Kurmaev and Partners, believes that an agreement on public-private partnership could have been concluded between the Ream structures and the KRKK. In this case, the activities of the KRKK will be limited to providing infrastructure, working with authorities, monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the project. And the private partner will take over the financing and increase the profitability of the sanatorium, the lawyer explains.

Demand for sanatorium holidays is now growing in general. According to Rosstat, in January-June 2023, 2.97 million guests were accommodated in health resorts, which is 10% higher year-on-year. Medical Director of the Association of Health Tourism and Corporate Health Mikhail Danilov expects that by the end of the year the number of vacationers will be 5-8% higher than in the pre-pandemic 2019. Kamchatka Krai, according to him, is one of the regions with the leading growth rates in the number of guests. For six months, the flow to the region’s sanatoriums increased by 74%, to 2 thousand people, in classic hotels the number of guests increased by 2.4%, to 182 thousand people, according to Rosstat.

There are no problems with accommodation in Kamchatka, but most of the facilities are not of the highest quality, although the latter is rarely considered a problem by tourists, says Sergey Romashkin, general director of the Dolphin tour operator. A classic sanatorium holiday in the region, according to him, may be more in demand by local residents, and travelers from other regions may be interested in two or three days. He calls Kamchatka’s complexity the short tourist season, and the advantage is the low sensitivity of demand to the cost of accommodation due to the high price of travel. Stanislav Ivashkevich, founder of Ivashkevich Hospitality, notes that investors are often enthusiastic about hotel projects in Kamchatka, but this enthusiasm quickly ends. “Due to complex logistics and labor shortages, profitability is very low,” he says.
