Former Scorpions drummer James Kottak has died aged 61. His daughter Toby reported this, without naming the cause of death, writes TMZ. According to her, the musician died yesterday, January 9, in the morning in Louisville, where he was born and lived until 1987.
James Kottak joined the Scorpions in 1996, replacing drummer Herman Rarebell. He recorded six albums with the group, but left the band in 2016 due to problems with alcoholism. In October 2022, the musician himself said that he had not yet been able to completely give up alcohol, but was struggling with his addiction.
During his career, James Kottak took part in the recording of two Kingdom Come albums; he also played with the groups Montrose, Warrant, and Wild Horses. In addition, the musician founded his own musical group, called Kottak (the group was originally known as KrunK).
