Former Ricchi e Poveri member Franco Gatti dies

Franco Gatti, a former member of the Italian pop group Ricchi e Poveri, has died in Genoa at the age of 80. This was reported on Tuesday, October 18, by the newspaper Il Messaggero. The publication did not disclose the cause of death.
The musical group Ricchi e Poveri (meaning “rich and poor” in Italian) gained fame with songs such as Mamma Maria, Che sarà, Sarà perché ti amo, Voulez vous danser and other disco and pop hits. The band’s popularity peaked between the 1970s and the 1980s. During its existence, more than 22 million records with albums of this ensemble have been sold.
Since the founding of the Italian group Ricchi e Poveri in 1967, Franco Gatti has been part of the musical group. He left it only in 2016 due to the death of his son. Gatti was the vocalist, guitarist and keyboardist for Ricchi e Poveri. Two years ago – in 2020 – Gatti reunited with the band for a tour. He was survived by his wife Stephanie and daughter Federica.
