The founder of Telegram Pavel Durov became the most impoverished billionaire from Russia, his fortune decreased by $3.6 billion over the year. writes Forbes.

It is specified that Durov’s fortune is now estimated at $ 11.5 billion. If last year he ranked third among Russian billionaires, now he has moved to tenth. According to Forbes, this was caused by the fall in the quotes of Telegram’s competitors – WhatsApp (owned by Meta, recognized as extremist and banned in Russia) and Snap, which owns the Snapchat messenger. This, in turn, was reflected in the Russian messenger.

In addition to Durov, the fortune of the founder of RTP Global, Leonid Boguslavsky, also decreased (minus $1.1 billion, his fortune is estimated at $3.6 billion). He also owns a stake in Datadog, whose share price more than halved in a year from $174.51 to $78.35 in February 2023. Dmitry and Igor Bukhman also entered the top three billionaires whose fortunes declined the most. (minus $1.1 billion each, their fortune is estimated at $7 billion each), their main asset is the game developer Playrix. Forbes drew attention to the general decline in interest in game developers. In particular, during the year, the game developer Take-Two Interactive Software fell in price by 24%, Electronic Arts – by 4%.

A total of 13 billionaires who were included in the last Forbes global ranking have faced a decline in wealth. Over the year, they lost a total of $ 8.5 billion. Forbes emphasized that such indicators are associated not only with sanctions, but also with different quotes.

At the same time, Forbes emphasized that, in general, this year was successful for Russian billionaires. Their number in the global ranking increased to 110 against 88 in 2022. It is specified that many of them managed to increase their fortune thanks to the recovery of the Russian stock market.

Previously Forbes informedthat the rating of the richest Russians according to Forbes this year was headed by the founder of EuroChem and SUEK Andrey Melnichenko. His fortune is estimated at $ 25.2 billion, which exceeds last year’s level twice. Forbes explains the increase in Melnichenko’s fortune by the increase in the cost of EuroChem against the background of the fact that after the start of the special operation in Ukraine, fertilizers became especially in demand.
