The All-Russian Association of Fishermen (VARPE) proposes, within the framework of the second stage of the investment quota program, to abandon the construction of refrigerated transport vessels that are used to deliver fish from production areas to ports. This is stated in a letter from the president of the organization German Zverev to the director of the department for regulation in the field of fisheries and aquaculture of the Ministry of Agriculture Yevgeny Katz. The document was sent on April 27, 2023, a copy is at the disposal of Vedomosti.
The representative of the WARPE said that the position set out in it was agreed upon by the association’s council. A representative of the Ministry of Agriculture confirmed receipt of the letter, adding that the ministry is considering these proposals. The first auction of the second stage of the investment quota program should take place already in 2023, within its framework it is planned to distribute 24% of the allowable catch of pollock, herring and other fish species in the Far East, as well as 50% of the crab catch. In return, investors will undertake obligations to build infrastructure facilities – coastal processing plants, fishing vessels, as well as transport refrigerators.
