The Association of Shipowners of the Fishing Fleet (ASRF) asked the Ministry of Industry and Trade to support shipbuilders. The corresponding letter was sent to the department on December 16. Vedomosti got acquainted with a copy of the document. The ASRF includes 27 companies, they provide the extraction of about a quarter of marine aquatic biological resources in Russia and more than 55%, or 126 billion rubles, of investments in the construction of ships.
Since 2017, 20% of fishing quotas have been distributed by the state under the “keel quota” program. According to the rules, an investor must build a processing plant or a fishing vessel at a Russian shipyard, and the Federal Agency for Fishery must issue him a fishing permit. In addition, in 2019, another 50% of crab quotas were redistributed at auctions for 15 years.
