First Deputy Editor-in-Chief of MK Petr Spektor was awarded the National Prize

The Writers’ Union of Russia hosted the presentation of the National Award “Best Books, Publishing Houses, Projects of the Year – 2022”. Among the laureates is Pyotr Spektor, a well-known sports journalist, the first deputy editor-in-chief of MK, whose book Football on Red Square was published last year.
– This is an award to the entire Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper, thank you very much, – said Pyotr Markovich, receiving the award from the hands of the first deputy of Literaturnaya Gazeta (the publication is one of the founders of the award) Leonid Kolpakov.
The book “Football on Red Square” is not only a collection of essays that opens up incredible pages from the history of football, hockey, gymnastics, chess and other sports. But it is also a kaleidoscope of characteristic portraits of such legendary figures as Eduard Streltsov and Valery Kharlamov, Lev Yashin and Vladislav Tretiak, Anatoly Karpov and Olga Korbut, Rinat Dasaev and Nikolai Starostin and many others.
– I decided to write this book as a present for my mother on her 90th birthday. And my dad was a military officer who defended Moscow and took Koenigsberg. While doing this book, I learned that Keniksberg was taken by people who had experience in street fighting, Spector said.
– The fact is that among the laureates there were many publications devoted to the military history of the past and present. For example, “Regiments of the Russian Army (Famous Regiments of the Imperial Guard)”, authored by Alexander Bondarenko, or the collection “Goodbye, Boys” by Dmitry Shevarov (Fates, poems, letters of 25 young poets who died in the Great Patriotic War). And also in the section “Prose” was awarded the collection of stories by Yuri Polyakov “Sovdetstvo. Pioneer Night”, which Peter Spektor called one of his teachers of writing.
