At the end of 2022, the number of regular visitors to fitness clubs and sports sections in Russia increased by 6.8% or 984 thousand people, reaching 15.4 million, follows from the FinExpertiza calculation. The number of those engaged outside the gym decreased by 17.9% or 5 million people, to 23.4 million. 5 million people stopped training at home or on the street.

According to the company, last year the share of Russians who systematically train outside the gym was 17.3%, and the share of regular visitors to fitness clubs was 11.4%. The flow of visitors grew the most in sports clubs in Tuva and the Kaliningrad region (three times more), Novgorod and Penza regions and Altai (twice more), as well as Karelia (by 85%), Mordovia (76.1%), Kirov (75.5%), Oryol (70% ) and Amur Regions (60.5%).

In 20 regions, the number of visitors to fitness clubs and sports sections has decreased. The most noticeable decrease was revealed in the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug (by 72.9%), the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (55.2%), Ulyanovsk (40.9%) and Pskov regions (39.3%),

Jewish Autonomous Region (31.8%), Ryazan Region (31.7%), Krasnoyarsk Territory (30.8%), Sakhalin Region (30.7%), North Ossetia (30.3%) and Sverdlovsk Region (26 .7%).

In terms of the population, the residents of Chechnya (21.1% of the inhabitants of the republic), the Nenets Autonomous Okrug (19.3%), Sevastopol (18.4%), St. Moscow (17.3%), Khabarovsk Territory (16.2%), Astrakhan Region (15.6%), Karelia (15.5%), Magadan Region (15.3%) and Novgorod Region (14.4%) .

Men go to fitness clubs in Russia slightly more often than women – in 2022, among their visitors there were 54% of men and 46% of women.
