Fesco: Russian container market decreased by 15.9% in 2022

At the end of 2022, the container market in Russia decreased by 15.9% compared to 2021 and will amount to about 5.5 million TEU (twenty-foot equivalent, a conventional unit for measuring the capacity of freight vehicles).
Domestic traffic remained at the level of 2021, amounting to 1.1 million TEU. Import amounted to 2.1 million TEU, decreasing by 12%, export – 1.5 million TEU (-25%), transit decreased to 750 thousand TEU (-23%), leads TASS extract from the Fesco press release.
To the container market in Russia influenced sanctions imposed because of the military operation in Ukraine. In this connection were introduced new measures to support container transportation.
According to the plans of the Ministry of Transport, in 2023 the volume of container traffic will have to increase by more than 60% compared to 2022, including due to transportation through the Eastern range.
