Fesco clarified the timing of the completion of the modernization of VMTP

Transport group Fesco will complete the modernization of the existing container capacities of the Vladivostok Commercial Sea Port (VMTP) by 2027-2028, a company representative told Vedomosti. As a result of the work, the terminal’s capacity will increase to 1.2 million TEU (the equivalent of a 20-foot container).
At the same time, the representative of the group called the construction of a new bulk terminal for the Northern Sea Route (NSR) – the Eastern Transport and Logistics Hub (VTLU) a separate project. The terminal is being created for the transshipment of containers that will go along the NSR: they will be reloaded at VTLU from ocean container ships to ice-class cargo ships.
The construction of the VTLU will be completed in accordance with the terms of the Northern Sea Route development plan approved by the Russian government on August 1, 2022, a Fesco representative explains. The plan states that the VTLU will be built in 2024-2025. it will cost 8 billion rubles, although the source of these funds is not specified.
By 2027-2028 the port infrastructure will be modernized to increase the throughput of the VMTP, the representative of the group noted.
Vedomosti told on the deadlines for the submission of VTLU on July 6, 2023, based on the information in the release Fesco on the results of a meeting with the Plenipotentiary of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev, which was attended by the company’s management.
